Nodus tollens (n.): the realization that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore—that although you thought you were following the arc of the story, you keep finding yourself immersed in passages you don’t understand, that don’t even seem to belong in the same genre—which requires you to go back and reread the chapters you had originally skimmed to get to the good parts, only to learn that all along you were supposed to choose your own adventure.
How long are you going to wait, and let your life be directed by the acts of others? Stop pinning all your expectations onto others around you. More importantly, stop making chronic disappointments an excuse to self-deprivation. What are you waiting for, to make you fully realize that the universe is in you? More importantly, what are you waiting for AT ALL?
Where’s your map? Pull it out, plaster it across the walls of your room and heart.
Make plans. And try to go out of your way to fulfill them. Don’t leave just because everybody else has. Work. Harder than ever. Breathe every now and then. Don’t forget to laugh- at everything and nothing. Cry occasionally. It’s okay.
Sooner or later you’ll find that someone else has been doing exactly what you’ve been doing. And all along they have been waiting for someone like you. So go ahead. Make that plan work. Live it. Love it. Jump headfirst into its awesomeness. Take in the recklessness, every now and then. Let it overwhelm you. Even if everybody else has left. Because, chances are, you’re not alone. ❤
